Bleeding Heart Mclare Vale Cab Sav 750ml

Bleeding Heart Wine was born from a shared passion in the wines and vineyards of South Australia. The ancient soils and moderate climate create rich and full bodied wines that are incredibly satisfying. Few that experience the lifestyle of food and wine or the beautiful landscape could argue that it is not better a bleeding heart than none at all. Vineyards: Sourced from a combination of established, dry-grown vineyards in central South Australia and low-yielding McLaren Vale vineyards. Wines are made and matured by Jim Zerella in McLaren Vale. Winemaking: Fruit is chilled before de-stemming and a cold soak for three days. Each parcel is fermented separately with the McLaren Vale Shiraz fermented in small open two tonne vessels before maturation in two to four year old oak barrels for six months. The Big Rivers component is fermented and matured in stainless steel before blending. 2014 Vintage: 2014 can be characterised by tiny yields, unsettled weather and very good wine. A cold start to Spring disrupted flowering and significantly reduced yields. As is often the case, the weather flipped with two heatwaves and then heavy rains – however the small berries and bunches handled the conditions before relatively benign Autumn conditions. The result crop was for many the smallest on record but the fruit is outstanding - balanced and intensely flavoured. Tasting Note: A bright and inviting nose highlighting varietal blackberry and currant aromas, a hint of bramble and savour oak. Typical of McLaren Vale’s opulent take on Cabernet, the palate is full of dark berries and ripe plums before an impressively long finish given definition by fine tannins. An excellent combination of easy going approachability and Cabernet Sauvignon definition and structure.

Penfolds Bin 128 Shiraz 750ml

Penfolds Bin 128 is one of the most distinctive reds in the Penfolds stable. Firstly, as a 'Coonawarra Shiraz', it is one of the few Penfolds reds that isn't a multi regional blend. It is also matured solely in French oak. French oak generally lends a wine understated, aromatic characters and is therefore a better choice with more subtly flavoured wines. Coonawarra typically produces zesty, spicy and supple Shiraz fruit that exhibits a richness of flavour and a mouth filling roundness on the palate. Bin 128 is true to this style. The 2008 release of Penfolds Bin 128 Shiraz is ripe and delicious - you'd call it solid, at least in Coonawarra shiraz terms - though the asking price needs at least $10 shaved from it. Thankfully, retailers will likely take care of that. It's big and spicy, plummy and warm. It's definitely a bigger version of Bin 128 than usual. It was a warm year in a cool climate - almost always a good combination. Boysenberries and cherries and plums. Fresh oak-spice. It drinks very nicely now, with good texture and length, though it needs another nine to 18 months in bottle to integrate properly. I'd argue that this has been released too young, but I wouldn't argue against its quality. Drink : 2013 - 2020 91+ Points Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front

Penfolds Grange Shiraz 05-07 Vin 750ml

Australian icon - Grange is considered one of the world's finest red wines. From humble beginnings in the 1950s, Grange has maintained its place as Australia's most prestigious red wine over five decades. Today, it is a wine of international renown, with each vintage eagerly awaited by collectors both in Australia and overseas. Penfolds Grange is a wine of extraordinary dimension and power. Richly textured, intensely concentrated and packed with fruit sweetness, these wines, regardless of vintage, require medium to long-term cellaring. They develop into immensely complex, beguiling wines that seduce the senses. An Australian icon, Grange represents a tradition in winemaking that is totally uncompromising. Grange has bypassed the fads and trends of modern winemaking in the sense that it has maintained an integrity of style and remained true to its origins in the mind of Max Schubert. Penfolds Grange is the quality standard against which all other Australian red wines are judged. To share a mature Grange, 15 to 20 years old, in fine condition, is one of the great wine experiences

Penfolds Grange Shiraz 2008 Vintage 750ml

COLOUR :Impenetrable dark core. NOSE :Somewhat intimidating? Yes. Brazen? Never. An immediate and powerful lift of cola/soy/hoisin/red licorice, propelled by tea-smoke and ferric influences. Less obvious nut-husk/tan-bark notes align with lush aromas of ripe (jamon-wrapped) figs and a panaforte plushness. With air, blueberry fruits and mocha arise, the oak (100% new!) remaining concealed-too much aromatic background chatter to register! PALATE :A muscular push/wave/affront across the entire palate-from start to finish. Never oppressive nor ungainly, yet captivatingly forceful. i.e. a vinous lava flow of dark licorice and malt- 'molten', with a self-saucing chocolate pudding richness and blackberry, elderberry fruits. Pronounced tannins are unleashed, and the Clare component makes its (9%) presence felt, adding to both flavour pool and extract. Power and density naturally respectful of balance and structure.

Riunite Lambrusco 750ml

Lambrusco has a mixed history. It's one of the oldest wine-producing grapes we use today, with evidence dating it back to the ancient Etruscans. The name "Lambrusco" comes from the Latin lambrusca, which means "wild vines." The popularity of Lambrusco as a cheap imported wine in the 1970s has given it a bad reputation today. Many seem to assume that Lambrusco grapes can't produce anything but simple, sweet, and causal wines but there are several varieties of the Lambrusco grape which, when blended together, allow wine makers to create a variety of interesting flavors. Lambrusco wines may be due for a revival. Color & Clarity: Riunite Lambrusco is a dark, ruby red wine that is fairly clear and bright. Nose: With the right glass, the Riunite Lambrusco produces a strong, almost overwhelming aroma of berries — probably strawberries, but perhaps a more generic mixture of blackberries and raspberries. The berry aroma is almost too intense and may be designed to be easier to smell with mediocre wine glasses, but frankly I never noticed it before using a large Spiegelau Bordeaux glass. Palate: Riunite Lambrusco has a fairly simple taste, much sweeter than most red wines with weak tannins and flavors of cherry, berry, and perhaps a little plum. Red wines are typically served warmer, but Riunite Lambrusco is best served very cold. Be advised also that this wine is slightly carbonated, another difference from standard red wines. Food Pairing: You can pair Riunite Lambrusco with almost anything that can handle a sweet wine with strong flavors. Pizza, hamburgers, and hot dogs will fit both the flavor and the casual character of this inexpensive wine. It's also a good idea to try to pair Riunite Lambrusco with regional foods of central Italy.

Sacred Hill Halo Sav Blanc 750ml

Sacred Hill Halo Sav Blanc 750 Harvested in the cool of the night and protectively pressed to tank for cool fermentation. A careful selection of specifically functional yeasts has maximised varietal intensity. Minimally handled through to bottling to preserve quality and aromatics. Spring was warm, dry and early in Marlborough, which was a bonus for our vineyard team who did not have to spend too many nights fighting off Jack Frost. This early advantage flowed into summer, which remained warm and dry throughout, thus laying the foundation for a quality harvest. These warm and dry conditions also resulted in grape acid levels declining faster than normal, and so we elected to harvest a significant number of blocks early to capture the great flavours and good acid balance. Picking on flavour with a careful eye on the maturity data certainly paid dividends in 2014, as when the late autumn rains did arrive, our company had already brought in over 90% of our total harvest, ahead of the regional average.

There is an element of tartness that comes through on the finish to counterpoint the sweetness, though neither of these characters gel.

Taylor's is the only Port wine shipper to remain completely independent throughout its 310 year history. It is still a family run company producing the highest quality Port wines that continue to fetch a premium at auction. Taylor's is distributed in over 54 countries around the world.

Te Mata Coleraine 2015 750ml

Since its first vintage in 1982, Te Mata Coleraine has cemented a reputation as one of New Zealand?s finest and most famous red wines. Both the original vineyard, and iconic home of John and Wendy Buck, are also named after the village of Coleraine in Northern Ireland where John?s great grandfather was born. The 2015 is another classically elegant Bordeaux blend of 56% cabernet sauvignon, 36% merlot and 10% cabernet franc. Given the immense hype surrounding the 2013 and 2014 releases this year is likely to slip under the radar, but it has a real energy and poise that stands apart. Beautiful florals of lavender, violets, rose and cassis, with a concentrated textural palate of blackcurrant, black cherries, wild strawberry and subtle cedar wood. Te Mata has really gone from strength to strength in recent years, with the 2015 being another iconic wine with huge cellaring potential. We?d suggest putting these away in your cellar for at least five years before succumbing to temptation.

Wairau River WL Chardonnay 750

The grapes are low cropped and then a portion of this wine is fermented in old oak using indigenous yeast, not to give oak character but to add layers of flavour and texture. The balance is tank fermented and aged on light lees, giving a creaminess and mid palate weight. It is a dry wine with classic pear and quince texture and flavours with super length.
