VINEYARD Harvested out of the lower Awatere Valley in Marlborough. VINIFICATION 50% whole bunch pressed to preserve aromatics, it was then fermented cool in stainless steel and allowed to sit on lees for an extended period to develop body and texture. APPEARANCE Pale straw in colour. BOUQUET A vibrant bouquet displaying classic passion fruit and gooseberries with a hint of flintiness. PALATE A broad and luscious palate exhibiting citrus tones with a backbone of crisp acidity. CELLARING It is ready to drink now and is best served slightly chilled. SERVING TEMPERATURE 14-16°C FOOD ACCOMPANIMENTS A platter of icey cold raw oysters. Fresh crayfish cooked on the BBQ served with buttered crusty bread and a crisp green salad.
Vibrant and classically Marlborough aromas, passionfruit, guava, lime and kaffir with hints of tropical mango. A perfectly balanced almost juicy palate that carries through all of the vibrant tropical perfume, with great depth of flavour and rounded texture. A complex yet very enjoyable style that is brimming with flavour and multifaceted aromas. Easy to drink on its own but also suited to food because of the harmonious balance of the palate.
Big River Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2014 : Bright pale straw-yellow colour, very pale edged. The nose is light with fresh, uncomplicated fruit aromas of gooseberries and cut grass, passionfruit and a minerally nuance that gently grow in the glass. Dry to taste and light-bodied, restrained flavours of cut grass, herbs and green apples show on a crisp, acid-driven palate. The wine has a light phenolic, textured line that carries the fruit. The mouthfeel is rounded, with an edge of acidity that drives the palate to a dry, textured finish. This is a clean, crisp Sauvignon Blanc with straightforward gooseberry and grassy flavours. Serve as an aperitif and with salads and vegetables over the next 18 months. Marlborough fruit cool-fermented to 12.5% alc. and 3 g/L RS.
Bold aromas of tomato leaf, gooseberry, nettle and fresh herbs laced with citrus flowers and a hint of honey make for a complex herbal bouquet. The satisfyingly weighty palate has notes of pear underpinned by grapefruit flesh and lime - and a striking minerality that lingers on the palate. Layers of flavour unfold continuously in the glass, thanks to the superb concentration of fruit.
This wine is pale straw in colour with a green tinge. The nose has vibrant passionfruit sorbet and pear aromas with green olive highlights. On the palate there are grapefruit and capsicum flavours balanced by an oily, textural finish. This is a wine that shows classic varietal intensity and is crisp and refreshing. Cellaring and Food Matching This wine is best enjoyed whilst young and vibrant, though will develop further complexity if cellared. Enjoy slightly chilled on its own or accompanied with seafood dishes or those with delicate white meat. This is a very versatile wine that will be a perfect match for chicken stir fries, pork roasts, mussels and pumpkin-based dishes.
