This chardonnay has ripe stonefruit and citrus characters subtly enhanced by fermentation in seasoned oak barrels, lees contact and a creamy malolactic influence, to create a rich and elegant wine.
Roger Parkinson has been producing high-quality wines from his Martinbrough HQ for more than two decades. An immediately appealing, food friendly Chardonnay with a rich, freshly scented bouquet of stonefruit backed by spicy notes that tumble onto the persistent and balanced palate.
The wine has a freshness and vibrancy that gives it instant appeal. Made in a fruit-driven style it has stone fruit and peach stone flavours with hints of toasty oak. The palate has a fullness which gives it good length while at the same time finishing dry.
This is vinted in a soft easy drinking style it has medium body with aromas of ripe tropical fruit flavours oak ageing has added complexity enjoyable on its own it is also well matched with ham and cheese dishes and creamy spicy sauces on pasta.
Typical fruit characters such as grapefruit and melon are supplemented by biscuity barrel ferment characters with a light butteriness from malo-lactic fermentation. The wine is rich and round, with soft acidity and attractive sweet fruit. A portion of the juice was fermented and aged in French oak barriques, with the rest in stainless steel tanks.
Fruit flavours are in the cool to moderate spectrum of citrus, white flowers, ripe grapefruit and melon. The style is mid-weight with elegant oak nicely tucked in, providing texture and lingering flavours of cashew, roasted almond and gun flint. The structure has a tight shape with the finesse and concentration that are hallmarks of Trinity Hill Chardonnay. It displays delicacy but richness and the beautifully linear acidity makes it a fantastic match with food. An excellent partner with white meats and seafood dishes.
