Delivery Options at Big Barrel Online
Big Barrel Online offers a quick and reliable delivery service. Most of our Online Courier delivery orders are shipped from our dispatch centre in Napier, NZ. While most orders are usually dispatched within 24-48 hours, please allow at least 7 business days for your order to be dispatched. Normal delivery timeframes are overnight for the North Island and 2 business days for South Island.
When you checkout you will be asked to select your delivery address. This determines your freight charges automatically. Freight charges for mainland North Island and mainland South Island are as below:-
Base charges:-
$15: Covers a case of 12 bottles or up to 18KG
$12: Covers between 2-6 bottles or up to 10KG
$6: Covers between 1 bottle or up to 5KG
Surcharge: Due to recent price increases by Courier Companies, a surcharge of $1.00 per bottle (size of upto 1000ml) will be applied. Surcharges will vary for different sized items such as 1500ml/3000ml/6000ml from $5 to $20 per unit. Beers and RTD's will also incur additional surcharges due to the size and weight of these items.
Freight will be charged as per the number of bottles in any order in Spirits and Wine Categories and it will be charged by weight for Beer and RTD's. Some items may be charged differently at our discretion. We reserve the right to review the freight charges from time to time. Rural areas may attract additional freight charges not charged at checkout. If we find a difference in the freight charged by the website versus actual freight chiarged by NZ Couriers, which may happen due to rural addresses and different weights and dimensions of Beers and RTDs, we reserve the right to contact the customer for payment for additional freight charges after working out the difference in freight paid less actual freight charged by our courier partner NZ Couriers. This needs to be paid before we send your order. If the customer doesn't want to pay additional freight then we reserve the right to cancel the order. In such a situation, we will refund the order in full as long as the order has not been dispatched.
Beer & RTDs: 12pack or 24pack Bottles/Cans Packing $5 Surcharge:
Beer & RTDs 12pack or 24pack Bottles require additional packaging to protect them from damages in transit. Due to this additional $5/pack will be added as additional shipping charge to cover additional charges levied by Courier companies.
Some Items which can only be shipped separately due to limited stock may incur an additional $5 Shipping charge per item.
Local Deliveries:
For Napier and Hastings City areas, a flat fee of $5 per 12 bottles or up to 18KG will be charged. Rural areas may attract additional freight charges. Beer & RTDs orders may attract additional freight charges due to their complex weights & dimensions. For such orders that are a mix of beers and RTDs, we will get in touch with the freight difference for you to pay for additional freight charges as provided by NZ Couriers website to us. This needs to be paid before we send your order. If a customer doesn't want to pay additional freight then we reserve the right to cancel the order. In such a situation, we will refund the order in full as long as the order has not been dispatched.

Rural Deliveries:
We ship our orders using NZ Couriers, and as such, we are held to what NZ Couriers determines as a rural address. Our website is currently not set up to calculate rural delivery costs, so deliveries to rural addresses will incur extra delivery costs. This needs to be paid before we send your order. If the customer doesn't want to pay additional freight then we reserve the right to cancel the order. In such a situation, we will refund the order in full as long as the order is not dispatched.

Bulk Deliveries:
We do offer bulk delivery options. Please contact us for your bulk requirements and one of our sales representatives will be more than happy to assist.
Delivery Time Frames:
We endeavor to have all orders placed during working days dispatched within 2-7 working days. After hours, weekends, or orders for rural areas may take up to 3-9 working days. Saturday deliveries can be arranged by contacting us via email or phone. Big Barrel takes no responsibilty for delayed deliveries due to courier delays.
Punctuality of Service:
Please note that although we endeavor to provide fast and efficient service we are unable to guarantee the punctuality of service provided by our delivery agents, particularly during spells of difficult weather conditions, or for other reasons beyond our control. If your shipment is delivered unacceptably late after having been collected from us on time by our agent then we may try to secure a refund where appropriate or possible.
Damaged Couriers:
We take pride in packing your orders to ensure that it arrives in perfect condition. Unfortunately, there are times when parcels incur damage while in transit. If a parcel shows clear signs of damage or leakage at the time of delivery we request that you refuse the parcel. Just tell the courier to return the goods back to the sender. In that case, we will re-send the same order within 24hrs of confirmation from the courier about the damage.
Authority to Leave:
Unfortunately, because all our parcels contain alcohol, we cannot give the couriers 'Authority to Leave'. We have asked that the courier company leaves a 'Card to Call' if no one is home - this leaves the customer free to rearrange a redelivery or choose to pick up their parcel from the nearest NZ Courier depot.
Out of Stock Items:
There may be occasional out of stock issues from our suppliers due to various reasons out of ours or our supplier's control. In such cases, we will contact you within 48 hours of placing the order except for weekends where it may take longer than 48hrs. We will either refund you those items in full or substitute them with something else upon your approval.
