Just breathe in the aromas of a beautiful balance of toasty oak, stonefruit and citrus and you know it was worth the wait. Concentrated, pure fruit flavours, restrained oak and a lingering finish make for an elegant wine which will keep on developing for months to come – if you can keep it that is! It’s however already excellent drinking right now.
Our 2010 Chardonnay typifies the style of Chardonnay we aim to produce from our coastal vineyard. Handpicked fruit of outstanding quality and optimal flavor ripeness was whole-bunch pressed to 228L Burgundian oak, 40% new. No cultured yeast was added; rather an uninoculated fermentation using the yeast strains indigenous to our vineyard was allowed. Following the alcoholic fermentation the wine remained in barrel, on lees, for 11 months. The wine did not undergo malolactic fermentation.
The 2010 Chardonnay is intense and concentrated. Aromas of pink grapefruit, citrus blossom and nectarine complement the sharply focused palate of spicy Meyer lemon, green apple and hazelnut.
This is a rich and full flavoured Hawkes Bay Chardonnay. Its flavour profile is a mix of peach, grilled nuts, butter, grapefruit with a subtle oak spice. It is both complex and delicious and a classic expression of Hawkes Bay Chardonnay.
Chardonnay grown on the Eskdale Estate vineyard is hand harvested for this wine. The wine spends two years in new French oak barriques, which produces a dry full-bodied Chardonnay. An elegant and balanced style with a firm finish.
One of the better-value Chardonnays on the market, the aromatics and palate offering ripe stonefruit and tropical fruit characters, with the rich, fruit-driven flavours supported by butterscotch nuances and balanced by a swirl of citrus.
Brilliant clarity Pale to mid-straw in colour. The aroma is typified by stone-fruit, peaches and apricots. There are hints of melon with creamy and nutty nuances. Clean, with good intensity and persistence. The palate is fresh and lively. The fruit flavours of the aroma deliver with some intensity. Once again the peaches and cream feature with a slightly toasted nut finish. This wine has good length and a smooth satisfying finish.
Seductive aromas of summer stone fruits with creamy flavours supported by smokey, spicy oak. A full-bodied Chardonnay, creamy and generous. Such a premium wine deserves a special food match – try serving with Hapauka steaks, caper sauce and frite a la tartare. Serve just chilled.
This wine comes from our Omaka Vineyard and has been aged in bourbon barrels for 14 months with minimal disturbance.
The colour, spring straw with a light green hue. On the nose, aromas of vanilla and smokey bourbon like character followed by ripe peach jump out of the glass. Very similar on the palate, however the “Devils share” has given the wine some real heat.
The wine alcohol lifted 1.5% after aging in these barrels. No filtration so expect sediment
The wine is pale straw in colour. Fragrant citrus, baked pear and stone fruit aromas are layered over spicy notes and a hint of smokey oak. The partial wild & malolactic fermentations along with the extended lees maturation in barrel have added complexity and texture to the wine. Smooth and round on the palate with a lovely balance of minerality. Flavours of stonefruits, nougat and citrus are enhanced with well integrated oak and refined acid.
An approachable and full-bodied Chardonnay that shows great length and persistence. Medium weight with a creamy texture and hints of butterscotch and lemon meringue pie. FOOD PAIRINGS: Delicious paired with Camembert cheese, pan-seared salmon, or other white meat dishes.
